A little about me
I believe that dentistry is about so much more than teeth. It is about people, relationships, trust, and the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in someone's life.
I was born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela, where I earned my DDS degree and practiced for several years before moving to Michigan in 2005. My journey in Michigan brought me to the University of Michigan, where I completed a two-year post-doctoral program in Restorative and Esthetic Dentistry. During that time I also discovered how much I enjoyed teaching, and I had the privilege of sharing my knowledge with future dentists. I later taught at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry. Years later, I returned to my alma mater, the University of Michigan, to teach in the same graduate program where my career in Michigan first began.
Teaching was an incredibly rewarding experience, but I realized how much I missed the personal connections that are created in private practice. I missed getting to know my patients and their families, earning their trust, and being able to care for them throughout different stages of their lives.
Beyond dentistry, I am a proud mother of two, a son and a daughter. If you would like to get to know me beyond the dental office, ask me about my family, my passion for health and fitness, and my love of cooking.
And most importantly, I would love to hear about you: your family, your story, and what makes you uniquely you.
Because caring for people is not simply what I do. It is who I am.
Sincerely,
Dr. Alejandra deFuentes Cutter, D.D.S.
