Full Mouth Reconstruction

A plan to rebuild a whole smile, staged at a pace that works for you.

A full mouth reconstruction rebuilds a whole smile rather than repairing one tooth at a time. At Soothing Dental in Plymouth that means a staged plan combining implants, crowns, bridges, veneers, and dentures as your case requires, sequenced over time so it never feels overwhelming and designed by a dentist whose postdoctoral training was in aesthetics.

Who this is for

People whose mouths have been through a lot. Years of wear, old dentistry that has reached the end of its life, teeth lost one at a time until the remaining ones drifted, a bite that has gradually collapsed, or the long consequences of an accident. If you have been told your situation is complicated, or quietly decided it is beyond fixing, this is the conversation that says otherwise.

Rebuilding with implants

If you are missing most or all of your teeth, there are two strong directions. Implant-retained dentures clip securely onto a small number of implants, so nothing slides at dinner and no adhesive is needed, and they still come out for cleaning. A fixed full-arch reconstruction is anchored permanently to implants and stays in your mouth exactly the way natural teeth do. Both are a world away from a traditional denture that moves.

Rebuilding what is already there

Not every reconstruction starts from nothing. Often the work is a coordinated mix of crowns, bridges, veneers, and fillings, sequenced so your bite, your jaw, and the way your smile looks all end up right together rather than one at a time. Doing it as a plan rather than a series of emergencies is what stops you paying twice for the same tooth.

Getting the bite right, not just the teeth

This is the part that separates a reconstruction from a lot of separate repairs. When teeth are lost or worn over years, the way the jaw closes changes with them, and rebuilding to the wrong position simply moves the problem. Establishing where your bite should sit comes first, and everything else is built to that. It is also why jaw symptoms often settle once a reconstruction is finished.

Designed, not just repaired

Because Dr. Alejandra deFuentes Cutter's postdoctorate at the University of Michigan was in aesthetics, the finished result is designed around your face: tooth length and proportion, how much shows when you smile, shade appropriate to your age rather than an artificial white. A reconstruction that functions well but announces itself has only done half the job.

How we plan it with you

This begins with a long conversation, not a treatment plan handed across a desk. We look at what is happening, what bothers you most, and what you want your smile to be able to do. Where implants are part of the plan, the surgical placement is coordinated with a specialist we trust and the restorative work is done here. Every plan is built around three things: your goals, your dental health, and your budget, and we will tell you plainly what makes sense now and what can wait.

Good questions

Questions patients often ask.

How long does a full mouth reconstruction take?

It depends entirely on what is involved. Some plans are finished in a few months and others are staged across a year or more, particularly when implants need time to heal. We map out the sequence at the start so you always know what is coming next.

Do I have to do it all at once?

No, and most people do not. The plan is built in stages, and we are clear about what is urgent, what is important, and what can comfortably wait. You decide the pace.

What is the difference between implant-retained dentures and a fixed full arch?

Implant-retained dentures clip firmly onto implants and come out for cleaning, which makes them a more affordable route to a denture that does not move. A fixed full arch is permanently attached and is cleaned in your mouth like natural teeth. We will walk you through how each one feels day to day.

Will it look natural?

That is the part Dr. deFuentes Cutter cares about most. Her postdoctorate at the University of Michigan was in aesthetics, and shape, proportion, and color are designed to suit your face rather than dropped in from a catalogue.

How do we work out what I can afford?

We talk about it openly and early. Every treatment plan here is built around three things: your goals, your dental health, and your budget. We will lay out the options and help you decide what makes sense to do now and what can wait.
