Soothing Dental is built around one idea: the appointment should never feel worse than the problem that brought you in. That shows up in the time we take, the way treatment is explained before it happens, and in equipment chosen because it is more comfortable rather than because it is faster.
If you are anxious, you are the reason this practice exists
Most people who dread the dentist are not being unreasonable. They are remembering something specific: being talked over, being rushed, being made to feel judged, or an appointment that genuinely hurt. Our approach is not to talk you out of that. It is to replace it with a run of good experiences until the old one stops being the one your body remembers.
More time, on purpose
Appointments here are longer than the industry standard, particularly for new patients. That is a deliberate business decision rather than an accident of scheduling. Time is what makes it possible to explain what is about to happen, to go at your pace, and to stop when you need to stop. Almost everything patients dislike about dental visits comes down to being rushed.
Chairs with heat and massage
Every treatment chair has heat and massage. It sounds like a small comfort and it is anything but: a patient who is physically relaxed tenses less, needs less anesthetic, and finds the same procedure markedly easier. For patients who arrive already braced for the worst, it changes the entire appointment before anything begins.
X-rays taken in your own room
There is imaging in every treatment room, so you are not walked down a hallway and parked somewhere else halfway through your visit. You stay where you are, in the chair you have settled into. It keeps appointments shorter and considerably calmer.
Hand instruments first, technology behind them
Cleanings start with expert hand scaling, because a hand instrument feels detail a machine cannot. Top-of-the-line ultrasonic cavitrons come in where heavier buildup calls for them, and laser techniques are available for gum treatment and bacterial removal. The equipment supports the hands rather than replacing them, which is the opposite of how a high-volume practice runs.
Comfortable numbing, including without a needle
For deep cleanings there are several ways to keep you comfortable, and some of them do not involve an injection at all. If needles are your specific fear, say so at the start rather than enduring it quietly. It is a common request and it needs no apology.
Accessible for every patient
We treat patients from small children through to our most elderly, and our chairs can be adapted for patients arriving in a wheelchair. Nobody gets sent elsewhere because their needs are slightly different from the average.
Experience behind it
Dr. Alejandra deFuentes Cutter, D.D.S. is the third dentist to care for this practice and brings more than twenty-five years of her own experience to it, including a postdoctorate from the University of Michigan in aesthetics. She owns the practice, she knows your name, and she is the person who answers your questions rather than someone you rarely see.
Gentle dentistry in Plymouth
If it has been years, or if a previous experience put you off entirely, that is a very ordinary way to arrive here. Tell us at the start what you are worried about and we will build the appointment around it. Call us and we will take it from there.
